Why applying for a Ph.D. ?
"I finally found a place to put all my skills, interests, and talent together; that's why I am so enthusiastic about Ubicomp & HCI and decide to apply for a Ph.D."
Songyun Tao is a master's student in Information Science at Cornell University and he received a bachelor's degree in Computer Science at UC Davis. He gradually developed a great interest in Ubiquitous Computing and Human-Computer Interaction when researching in with Professor Cheng. During research, he gained skills such as 3D printing and prototyping, ML/DL application, visualization, sensor data processing, and, more importantly, how to start research from an idea.
His research interests are embedding technology of ubiquitous computing into daily form factors and wearables, exploring new methods to fetch data from human behaviors, and how people can use these new devices to interact with intelligent systems such as computers, robots, or each other.
